B&B Bites (Kitchen Tested: Banana Apple Oatmeal Breakfast Cookies)

by Sandie on May 1, 2009

What? Banana Apple Oatmeal Breakfast Cookies.

Who? White Lace Inn

Where? Sturgeon Bay, Door County, Wisconsin

Why? Uniqueness factor: with dough more like muffin batter, these one-of-a-kind cookies bake up into a tasty texture similar to that of a muffin top. Hard to beat when served alongside eggs and fruit.

When? Use in place of any bread traditionally served at breakfast, brunch or tea time.

Editor’s Tips?

  • Chill batter in refrigerator before scooping onto a greased baking sheet.
  • Consider increasing amount of nuts used, as well as adding dried fruit (i.e. raisins, dried cherries or dried sweetened cranberries).
  • When baking, judge doneness by standards accepted for muffins: bake time (15-17 minutes), appearance, feel (springiness) & toothpick test if necessary.

Great recipe! I have been buying my daughter the Quaker oatmeal breakfast cookies but these homeade ones will make a great care basket for college! And I bet they make your kitchen smell heavenly!

Mental P Mama – No kidding. And with this particular cookie, there is no better time to enjoy it than with breakfast.

Katie – In my opinion, there is no comparison between these home-baked cookies and the ready-made Quaker kind—not that those Quaker Oatmeal Breakfast Cookies are bad by any means, just that these are so much fresher, tastier and (infinitely) more moist. And you’re right—these are perfect for a college care basket. Hope your daughter enjoys them :)

Andrew – Thanks for visiting!
