Looking for something fast and fabulous to whet your appetite? If you’re a fan of Brie and figs, you’re going to LOVE this easy appetizer recipe from Big Mill Bed & Breakfast!

Made with homemade Fig Preserves (what? Don’t have homemade preserves on hand? No problem! Your favorite store -bought brand will do) and less than a handful of ingredients, you’re family & friends will never know (or care) that you didn’t spend hours slaving over a hot stove. Perfect for serving at home, upcoming parties and other celebrations, one bite will convince you this creamy appetizer really hits the spot. Enjoy!

Creamy Brie with Fig Preserves
(featured on Inn Cuisine, recipe courtesy Big Mill B&B)
- 1 wedge of Brie cheese (about 16 ounces)
- 2 tablespoons slivered almonds
- 1/2 pint warm fig preserves (1 cup)
- 1 box (4 & 1/2 ounces) Carr’s Table Water Crackers or similar plain crackers
Unwrap and remove Brie from refrigerator several hours before serving; place in a warm spot so that cheese will be soft. Preheat oven or toaster oven to 350 degrees F. Spread slivered almonds on a small rimmed baking sheet and toast for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring and tossing often; remove from oven, cool and reserve. To serve, place Brie on a serving plate and pour preserves on top of the cheese. Preserves will run over the sides and onto the serving dish. Sprinkle toasted almonds on top and serve with plain water crackers like Carr’s.
Yield: at least 1 dozen or more servings

This sounds wonderful with the fig preserves! I make a similar recipe with apricot preserves.
This does sound amazing Sandie. I can’t wait for figs to be available..they seem to absent right now at my local Italian market
Definitively a scrumptious combination cheese and fig preserves, love it
Have a great weekend,
Gera
Such beautiful photos. I’ll be saving this idea for a time when fresh figs are available here. I’d love to make my own fig preserves. This time of year I make an apricot-fig tapenade using dried fruit to serve over creamy brie.
Susan & All About Food – Since you both mentioned apricots with figs, let me direct you to this tapenade recipe (served atop goat cheese) which I adapted from my Bon Appetit cookbook. While it’s not the most gorgeous appetizer to look at, it is a tasty combination of flavors that I believe you’d both appreciate:

Thanks for stopping by!
Val – This is precisely why Chloe submitted her fig preserves recipe last year when figs were in season and more widely available. Luckily, fig preserves are available year-round at your local grocer. That said, I agree with you whole heartedly, can’t wait till fresh figs are available again locally!
Gera – Thank you. Enjoy your weekend as well
Another variation is dried cranberries with brie. Here in New England, there are lots of homemade cranberries preserves at the farm stands, and combining cranberry with basil (red and green) on a baked brie is a typical holiday dish in these parts.
Oh I love figs! My grandparents had a fig tree in their yard – so delicious! I love how you added them to brie for a lovely appetizer!
aw, figs are purty! i love this appetizer, sandie, but i must say that it appeals to me more when puff pastry is involved. that buttery, flaky stuff is the cat’s meow.
That photo just jumped off the page!!! Wonderful colors and fig preserves… mmm good!
Lydia – The cranberry version sound delightful. I’m a huge fan of cranberries and find the thought of serving their preserves over warm Brie utterly divine. I’ll be trying that this upcoming holiday season.
Chef Aimee – How lucky your grandparents had a fig tree in their yard! I bet you have fond memories associated with figs
Grace – I agree with the puff pastry addition. There was a print ad this past holiday season featuring a big slab of Brie wrapped up in puff pastry with a bow. To say it looked appetizing is the understatement of the year!
Deana – Thanks! I know Chloe (her photos) is going to love hearing your positive feedback.
