Sometimes I think I’m in love with love: I love bed & breakfast inns, I love fabulous breakfasts & brunch, I love tasting appetizers that are so good you instinctively close your eyes and say, “Mmm,” and I love discovering new and worthy wines, especially when they are easy on the budget.
In the case of the latter, allow me to share my latest discovery…

Meet one of Barton & Guestier’s fabulous, fun Bistro Wines, their decadent 2005 Pinot Noir, produced in France and sold in the USA.
Smooth, well-rounded and boasting hints of wild berry, Barton & Guestier’s 2005 Bistro Wine Pinot Noir is bold yet soft, even yet full-bodied, and complex yet gentle as it finishes on the palate. While those qualities may seem like contradictions, I promise you they are not, yet the only way they can be tested is to try a bottle of this wine for yourself.
Earning 4.25 corks out of 5 from Inn Cuisine, this wine, like Mirassou’s Cabernet Sauvignon, is perfect for casual entertaining at home or for serving at your inn’s evening social hour. And please, don’t let the affordable price fool you. At under $15 a bottle, this wine would quite competently hold it’s own in any blindfolded taste test.
What’s even more surprising, is that I discovered this bottle by complete happenstance. Browsing the open stock of my local wine shop one day, I was on the lookout for unique and appealing labels. It’s no wonder this one caught my eye.
Dowsed in red, with a simple pictorial of two men sharing a toast…red wine in hand, the label absolutely depicted my mood that day: casual, playful and carefree; while it also depicted what I was longing for: camaraderie and togetherness. Couple that with the statement I found on the wine’s back label, and I was a sure sale:
In France, the local bistro is where folks go to relax, socialize, drink wine and dine in a casual, friendly setting. Our Pinot Noir has all the right qualities of a good bistro wine – it’s simple, delicious, fun to drink and pairs well with lots of different foods and flavors.
How many among us are strong enough to resist such an artful marketing ploy? Certainly not me, and truth be told, I’m glad I didn’t. I invite you to try this wine soon. There’s no reason you should feel anything but confident when serving it to guests of your home or bed & breakfast inn.
Enjoy!

What a cute label. It’s so hard to find a good Pinot for that price. I’ll have to look for this one.
Another fabulous wine rec from you at under $15! We’re really liking your wine posts, especially when they’re so affordable and delicious!
We’re re-discovering Pinot’s lately and this one is something we’ll be looking for.
Thank you for the information on various wines. There’s always so much to choose from at the wine shops and quite frankly I don’t even know where to begin. Now I make a list, head out, give em a try, and fill my wine rack with some really good vintage.
